Living With have been recognised as one of the top 100 innovative health technology companies in the annual Global Digital Health 100.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Main content” _builder_version=”4.2.2″]

Announced by the Journal of mHealth, the Global Digital Health 100 is now in its 6th year and aims to celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship whilst recognising and supporting those companies that have the most potential to change the way that healthcare is delivered.

It has consistently identified emerging trends across the health technology sector and previously recognised companies such as Babylon Health, Silvercloud Health, One Medical and Butterfly network that have gone on to become some of the world’s most successful within the industry.

Living With has had success with its multi-award winning app Squeezy, the UK’s top paid NHS endorsed app, which supports people with pelvic floor exercise problems. It is currently expanding its range of conditions and has products in pelvic health, rheumatology and oncology; recently, the company has completed a pilot for a smart phone app that helps oesophageal cancer patients in partnership with UCL and Univsity College London Hospital (UCLH).

One of the biggest trends from this year’s Global Digital Health 100 is the expanse of data led services and use of artificial intelligence to support earlier diagnosis, improving treatment personalisation and automating highly administrative tasks such as scheduling.

Living With are spear heading developments in the area of rheumatoid arthritis through a project recognised by Innovate UK funding. In partnership with the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH) and the University of Bath, new methods for capturing key disease activity data from smartphones are being trialled. Using cutting edge artificial intelligence and machine-learning technology the project will then analyse patient data in order to classify groups and identify the most effective treatment pathways.

Chris Robson, CEO of Living With said ‘We are extremely pleased to be recognised as one of the most influential health technology companies in the world. We are working on some exciting forward-thinking projects that are aimed at disrupting the current healthcare system and supporting clinicians to use technology to make their lives easier in ways we have never seen before’

New Living With Pregnancy Pain app seeks to help alleviate the pain suffered by up to 70% of pregnant women

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.2.2″]

A new Pregnancy Pain smartphone app for patients and web portal for clinicians has launched to help encourage increased awareness and self-management of pregnancy-related back pain and pelvic girdle pain, helping to reduce the extent of longer-term problems for patients. The product is free to NHS clinics.

Living With Pregnancy Pain (LWPP) aims to fill a gap in the current care pathway, so that women not yet requiring referral for physiotherapy treatment can be given access to the app which supports better self-management of early symptoms. This attempts to reduce the likelihood of the condition deteriorating, saving the need for face to face appointments and reducing costs

Award winning digital health company, Living With, owner of the market leading pelvic floor exercise app, Squeezy, has been working with NHS physiotherapist Maria Moffatt to develop the product, which is built on top of the Living With condition management platform.

Maria Moffatt asked Living With to collaborate with her and said; ”Pregnancy-related back pain and pelvic girdle pain are common problems experienced during pregnancy, with up to 70% of pregnant women affected. As a clinician and PhD student, my interest is in helping to promote the self-management of these conditions where possible, but also in educating pregnant women on the treatment options available if self-management is not feasible. Previous research literature and interviews undertaken with patients in the early stages of my research, revealed that pregnant women often feel that there is a lack of high-quality information available and express a need for more readily available advice on how to manage their condition.”

The launch version of Living With Pregnancy Pain has been designed to address these issues. It enables clinicians to distribute a free LWPP app to their patients and monitor their patients’ symptoms remotely at any time. Patients are able to understand their symptoms better, do the correct exercises, set goals, report pain and sleep issues and track clinically validated Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) outcome measures.

It provides a convenient and comprehensive information resource for pregnant women with pregnancy-related back pain and pelvic girdle pain. The new app forms part of an ongoing research project, which will help Living With to understand how well it achieves these aims and how it could be developed further. NHS clinics can benefit by using the app with their patients for free;

Chris Robson, CEO of Living With, commented “We have decided to provide this as a free app for NHS clinics to enable them to give a hugely valuable resource to the many women who suffer unnecessarily from these conditions. We hope that the research that Maria is doing with Manchester Metropolitan University will show substantial value has been created. Personally, it’s great to see the launch of another “pelvic health” product, building on the digital health expertise and reputation that we have already established with Squeezy and with Living With Pelvic Health, which is now live in 15 NHS Trusts and is proven to improve patient adherence and outcomes.”

Digital service launched with NHS to help oesophageal cancer patients and nurse specialists

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Main content” _builder_version=”3.29.3″]

A new smart phone app and web portal to help oesophageal cancer patients and their carers understand and manage their journey better has been launched today by UCL, University College London Hospital (UCLH) and digital health company, Living With.

The personalised service, which is being piloted by the NHS in London, will allow clinical nurse specialists to have more time to monitor patients’ progress, provide relevant information and improve the care they can offer.

Oesophageal (Gullet) Cancer is the 4th largest cause of cancer death in the UK. It has one of the highest death rates of any cancer. In London a new care pathway has been established for people with oesophageal cancer living in the north, central and east London Cancer Alliance. Surgery is performed by a single ‘high volume’ specialist centre based at University College Hospital (UCH), with supportive care delivered by local hospitals.

This new pathway has shown to have better outcomes; however, it can cause problems for patients and health care staff, that the app and web portal has been designed to address. Patients often have their treatment spread between several different hospitals, which can be confusing and lead to missed appointments. It can also create more work for the Cancer Nurse Specialists (CNS), who provide expert support to cancer patients, as they need to organise treatments at different hospitals. This means they have less time to support patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs, leading to a worse patient experience.

The pilot running in Barnet Hospital aims to demonstrate that patients can be supported better and that the overall CNS workload can be reduced, enabling CNSs to focus more of their expertise on patients with the most needs. The new app and web portal does this by making it easier for CNSs to connect to, monitor, share information and improve the timeliness of their interventions with their patients. In turn patients receive accurate, reliable and easily comprehensible health information conveniently, privately, and at exactly the time they need it in relation to their specific pathway.

“I have used it everyday and find it all and more than I wished for,” said Lizzie Lloyd-Dehler, cancer survivor, who is the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) representative

“After 18 months of careful design and development in collaboration with a wide range of multi-disciplinary stakeholders from UCL, UCLH and Macmillan including substantive input from patients and healthcare professionals, it’s great to see Living With Oesophageal Cancer going live in a hospital. This is the 5th product on our condition management platform now in the NHS and we are looking forward to seeing the results of the pilot.” Chris Robson, CEO of Living With, commented.

Professor Elizabeth Murray, Head of the Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health and Co-Director, eHealth Unit, UCL said “This is an exciting project, driven by cancer clinicians and patients, which has the potential to improve patient health outcomes and experience while reducing CNS workload and saving money for the NHS.”

Professor Muntzer Mughal, Honorary Clinical Professor and Consultant UGI Surgeon, UCLH: “This is an exciting project. The product will allow patients to access information and advice tailored to their condition and access to the CNS through the App. The App will also enable the CNS and clinicians to track the progress of their patients and to interact with them with advice and information and reminders about tests and appointments.

Smartphone technology will use AI to help arthritis patients manage their flare-ups

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”A partnership between the health-tech company Living With….” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]A partnership between the healthtech company Living With, the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust (RUH), and the University of Bath has been awarded a major grant to develop a Rheumatoid Arthritis Flare Profiler.

The award, from Innovate UK, will allow rheumatoid arthritis patients to use new methods capturing key disease activity data from smartphones, which will support clinicians to be able to classify and optimise care pathways.

Living With is developing the Flare Profiler in partnership with the RUH Trust’s Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases (RNHRD), which is the internationally leading centre of excellence for rheumatic conditions, and University of Bath’s Centre for the Analysis of Motion, Entertainment Research and Applications (CAMERA), a leader in developing and evaluating new digital technologies such as the use of video, sound and motion for clinical application.

It also adds a transformational new capability to our existing Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis product.”
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Jane Carter” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]Jane Carter, Research & Development Manager at the RNHRD, said: “The Trust has an established international reputation for research and expertise in rheumatology. We are always looking at ways to further improve the care and treatments we can offer patients. Using the latest technology and artificial intelligence is an exciting development. We are very excited to be part of this innovative project.”
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Darren Cosker” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]CAMERA was created to help further and transfer the knowledge developed within computer science, often targeting the entertainment industries, to other sectors such as healthcare. CAMERA Director, Prof. Darren Cosker, says “This is a great project. Being able to take some of the computer vision techniques we developed for hand tracking for animation and transferring it into a condition monitoring platform that can operate in a person’s home is a very positive use of technology and exactly the kind of work we should all be doing.”
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_video src=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drTJu1sCOwc” image_src=”//i.ytimg.com/vi/drTJu1sCOwc/hqdefault.jpg” _builder_version=”3.17.2″][/et_pb_video][et_pb_text admin_label=”The Flare Profiler will test a unique range of patient data” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]The Flare Profiler will test a unique range of patient data sources including video and thermal imaging technology. The project will then analyse patient data using cutting edge artificial intelligence and machine-learning technology to group patient disease activity patterns and identify the most effective treatment pathways for them.

The aim of the Flare Profiler is to demonstrate how better monitoring can provide earlier detection of issues, allow earlier clinical intervention and, over time, reduce need for costly acute treatments. It also aims to reduce the stress and need for patients to travel to hospital during treatment for specialist tests.

Living With is pleased to announce that our product Living With Pelvic Health, launched only 12 months ago, is now live in 12 NHS Trusts nationwide.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”In just 12 months, Living With Pelvic Health has successfully passed multiple proof of efficacy trials. ” _builder_version=”3.27.4″ custom_margin=”0px|||” custom_padding=”0px|||”]In just 12 months, Living With Pelvic Health has successfully passed multiple proof of efficacy trials.  Living With Pelvic Health has been proven to reduce costs and improve outcomes for patients suffering from a range of continence issues.

Clinics have reported that tracking data using Living With Pelvic Health increases patient motivation and adherence, leading to better patient outcomes and a shorter care pathway, thereby reducing the costs of both DNAs and appointments.

“Living With Pelvic Health has made it much easier to follow up patient’s progress using the clinician interface. The summary adherence is very useful. It has made my job easier in managing patients,” said Rachel House, a specialist pelvic health clinician at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

“I was definitely more motivated to do my exercises with the app, especially knowing [my clinician] could monitor my activity. This encouraged me to keep at it consistently,” said a patient from the Northern Trust.

The following trusts offer Living With Pelvic Health as part of their care pathway for patients with stress urinary incontinence and other appropriate pelvic floor dysfunction conditions:

  • Aneurin Bevan University Health Board
  • Barts Health NHS Trust
  • Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust
  • Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
  • Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
  • London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Northern Health and Social Care Trust
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

Living With Pelvic Health is a condition management platform that enables clinicians to track pelvic floor muscle exercise programme adherence and outcome data from bladder or bowel PROMs and diaries as reported on their patients app. It is distributed to patients for free via SqueezyCX, the connected version of the multi-award winning Squeezy app.

Barts NHS Trust finds Living With Pelvic Health increases patient adherence to exercises, improves patient outcomes and drives cost savings.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″]After completing a successful trial of Living With Pelvic Health, Barts Health NHS Trust saw a significant improvement to the level of their service and as a result will be introducing Living With Pelvic Health and SqueezyCX as part of standard care to all patients with stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and other appropriate pelvic floor dysfunction conditions.

“All the patients [participating in the trial] raved about its effectiveness without prompting. Patients are more engaged with treatment being offered and [we are] seeing better compliance,” said Aislinn Finn, a specialist pelvic health clinician at Barts.

The objectives set at the start of the trial included raising patient adherence to pelvic floor muscle exercise programmes by at least 15% and reducing appointment time by as much as 20 minutes to optimise strained clinician schedules.

The trial exceeded these objectives. “We have seen a reduction of 16.5% in average appointment time, and adherence level to exercises across these patients averaged 92.4%,” said Aislinn Finn.

“It’s great to begin to see the value that Living With Pelvic Health is capable of bringing to continence care and the related pelvic health pathways.”

Chris Robson, CEO of parent company Living With, commented. “This is only the beginning. We’re looking forward to sharing the promising results from our other trials as well.”

Barts Health NHS Trust is one of the leading centres for disorders of the female reproductive system, with dedicated pelvic pain and urogynaecology clinics.

Living With Pelvic Health is a condition management platform that connects to a clinician-monitored version of UK’s leading pelvic health app Squeezy. Living With Pelvic Health provides patients’ real-time PFME adherence records, ICIQ-UI PROMs and bladder diary results at a glance to their pelvic health physiotherapists to inform and optimise treatment. It is currently in trials across NHS Trusts nationwide.

Living With is excited to announce the launch of a new digital product to help improve care for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″]The Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis product was developed in collaboration with Dr Philip Hamann, Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol and a NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Quote” _builder_version=”3.27.4″ custom_padding=”|50px||50px”]“The problem with the current clinical management of RA is that it is based on infrequent and pre-scheduled appointments, with patient data collection solely based around these interactions. This means that when the patient is seen they may either be in remission or have already experienced a flare-up. It is challenging for patients to remember exactly how active their disease has been over the months since their last appointment, meaning it can be difficult to correctly tailor treatments to the patient’s need. Studies show approximately 20% of RA patients are in remission at any point in time suggesting these appointments could be avoided, or patients could be offered a telephone review, saving them the time and hassle of coming in to hospital,” says Dr. Philip Hamann
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″]Using the product, clinicians will be able to monitor patients’ disease activity quickly and easily both on an individual and group level. Patients will be given access to an app where they will be able to track and self-manage their condition and access relevant and trusted information about their disease. This will allow them to work in partnership with their clinical team to make informed, personalised decisions about their care.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https://livingwith.health/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Untitled-1.1.png” show_bottom_space=”off” align=”center” align_tablet=”center” align_last_edited=”on|desktop” _builder_version=”3.23″ max_width=”85%” custom_padding=”20px||5px|” always_center_on_mobile=”on”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″]With the ability to monitor patients’ disease activity remotely, clinics will be able to optimise patient appointments for those with the greatest need at any one time. Better monitoring of disease activity may also help reduce costs of medication, inpatient stays and attendance in the A&E.

The platform will be piloted in selected rheumatology clinics at Southmead Hospital for a 12-month trial period. During this time, feedback from app users and members of the clinical team will be incorporated into the platform to improve it for future users.
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.27.4″ custom_padding=”|50px||50px”]“I’m excited to be able to start using the platform in clinical practice and continue to work with Living With to improve the user experience and value of the platform to both patients and the clinical team,” says Dr Philip Hamann. “The development of this platform and its pilot shows how collaboration between industry and the NHS can solve real-world problems for patients and provide tools that can drive benefits for both patients and the clinical team. In the 70 years of the NHS, the way we deliver outpatient appointments has changed very little. This platform offers the opportunity to move the delivery of outpatient clinic services into the digital age.”
[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”About” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]

About Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Living With Rheumatoid Arthritis consists of a digital clinician dashboard and a patient app. The app allows patients to track and self-manage their condition more effectively, capture disease activity by completing weekly or monthly disease activity questionnaires, report on flare-ups, read recommended information about rheumatoid arthritis and treatment articles and stay in touch with their clinicians between appointments.

The dashboard allows clinicians to monitor patient disease activity remotely and see condition severity with red – amber- green indicators. This focuses support from the rheumatology team and enables appointment optimisation, ensuring patients receive support when they need it the most. Living With Pelvic Health and SqueezyCX launch internationally with private physiotherapy practice in Switzerland.

Mobi-physio Zurich is the first clinic outside the United Kingdom to offer the Living With Pelvic Health and SqueezyCX services to their patients with pelvic health problems such as stress urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

Mobi-physio provides physiotherapy sessions for a wide range of rehabilitation with a special focus in women’s health.

Led by physiotherapist Biljana Kennaway, Living With Pelvic Health and SqueezyCX have been incorporated into their patient offering. “[Patients] see me as different to other physios because I give them an app that links them with me and in turn they feel cared for!”

“Unlike other feedback and biofeedback products, SqueezyCX simply addresses adherence which is one of the main factors when measuring progress. This is definitely the product I will recommend to all Swiss physios that attend my educational pelvic health courses.”

Living With Pelvic Health is a condition management platform that connects to the multi-award winning pelvic health app Squeezy. It motivates patients and clinicians to work together to deliver better personal outcomes for people living with pelvic health dysfunction.

Introducing patient exercise programme adherence monitoring for clinicians

Following the clinical and consumer success of the pelvic floor muscle exercise programme app, Squeezy; sister brand, Living With Pelvic Health has launched at the annual Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) conference.

Living With Pelvic Health allows clinicians to monitor patients pelvic floor muscle exercise programme adherence records, by connecting to a dedicated version of Squeezy, called SqueezyCX. Through a clinician dashboard, clinicians can easily access patients’ adherence records, answering many of the time-consuming questions so appointments can focus on areas where more education or support is needed to improve confidence, adherence and self-management.

“As a physiotherapist, many of my patients have told me that they find it hard to remember to do their exercises. Squeezy supports people with urinary stress incontinence to complete their recommended exercise programme. Now, Living With Pelvic Health supports clinicians and enhances our ability to help patients.” Myra Robson – Senior Pelvic Health Physiotherapist at Lewisham Healthcare Trust.

Living With Pelvic Health will soon be offered by several NHS Trusts to their pelvic health patients dealing with pelvic floor dysfunctions such as urinary stress incontinence. The SqueezyCX app is available to patients for free by their clinicians.
